Carevan Wangaratta recently received a gracious contribution from George Prothero on behalf of Alpine Truss.
George, a long-time supporter of Carevan, has once again shown his compassion by donating $12,000 to help with the day to day running of the van.
Carevan Wangaratta provides meals to the community three nights a week, at three different locations. There regular clientele includes the underprivileged, the homeless and the lower socio-economic families of Wangaratta and surrounding district. With no ongoing government funding the day to day running of the service is reliant on donations like that of Alpine Truss.
Michelle Kennedy, Carevan president said ‘we are humbled by the donation from George, contributions like his are vital to our sustainability’.
We are very grateful to the Wangaratta Library for organising an appeal for the donation of blankets to Carevan Wangaratta.
Sit, Knit, & Crochet Club, who meet every Thursday (2-5 pm Wangaratta Library) have been knitting wool donated into Blankets, Scarves, Hats, Gloves, Baby Sets, and Socks since September 2017 for the Appeal.
Year 12 students from Galen School, Wangaratta, also took on making a blanket as a project. The students were taught how to knot and put the blanket together.
There were over 120 blankets donated, along with the other items …… we will enjoy passing on these beautiful and lovingly made blankets, and other items, to those in the community in need of that extra bit of warmth and comfort this winter.

There is a lot of planning and running around just before Christmas – so it’s the perfect combo that the Community Food for All Network has brought a mix of artisan grocers, providers and purveyors of local food and entertainment all in the one location for Wangaratta’s Christmas Twilight Market.
With local seasonal produce, plus a handful of local makers for any last minute presents, both your table and tree will be complete.

On Tuesday the 28th July, the Carevan Wangaratta will be handing out runners, books and blankets to their clients. These donations have all come from our community- The Foot Centre, High Country Library and St Patricks Wrapped with Love, and we are very grateful for their support!
Alison and her team from The Foot Centre will be coming along on the Tuesday night to fit the shoes to ensure they are getting the right shoe, which is fantastic. We look forward to a great night at the West End rotunda area!
At the beginning of 2015, the Inner Wheel Club of Wangaratta and Carevan were very proud and happy to receive a grant from the Rural City of Wangaratta to purchase new equipment for their cook-ups at The Centre with their VCAL students.
The equipment has been put to very good use by our volunteers at the cook ups and VCAL students, and we have been fortunate enough to have the support from Cabinets by Webb who have fitted cupboards to The Centre for storage of the equipment. It’s fantastic to see so many local businesses and organisations working together and supporting the community!
The Carevan Wangaratta has been planning ahead with the ladies from Inner Wheel and the VCAL students from The Centre to set the dates for our monthly ‘cook ups’.
Each month there are 2 ‘cook ups’ which are supported by Woolworths Wangaratta who supply vegetables and fruit each time. If you are interested in getting involved in the ‘cook ups’ or would like to donate food for the ‘cook ups’, we would love to have your support so please contact us on at firstname.lastname@example.org
