UPDATE RE COVID-19. The decision has been made to postpone the recommencement of our service until the Covid-19 situation improves in Melbourne and generally. The Committee will review the situation at the end of August, the health and safety of our volunteers and recipients is at the forefront of our decision. There are a number of other local Agencies providing services that clients are able, and have been, availing themselves of. We shall keep you informed of all future updates. All involved with the operation of Wangaratta Carevan Inc. thank you for your support and becoming part of our team of community minded individuals with hearts filled with a sense of pride in giving back.
Wangaratta Carevan Inc. is a registered not-for-profit organisation that utilises a volunteer Committee plus a team of local volunteers. Since February 2011 we have been delivering meals three times a week in Wangaratta to three different locations. These wholesome meals are for people (our clients) within our local community who are struggling to provide food for themselves and often their families.
Wangaratta Carevan Inc. does not receive any formal financial funding other than random donations of mainly food and financial assistance from local community groups, individuals and/or our business leaders.
Besides delivering meals on a regular basis, Wangaratta Carevan Inc. partners whenever possible with local community agencies such as Anglicare, Loaves & Fishes – Christians Caring, Borinya School, Junction Support Services, Wangaratta High School, The Centre, and Ovens & King, to promote awareness about important subjects like anti-poverty, homelessness plus the benefits of healthy eating.
